Abstract
The main view point of this research is analysis of contents base don cosial text books for grades four and five in primary schools according to skillness of metacognition. The method of the research is a describtive one, mainly an analitic content research. The statistic society of the research includes the social text books for fourth and fifth grades of primary school level. The whole set of the text analitic unite, pictures, classroom activities and questions. The instruments of research are consisted of compiled checklist by the researcher which contains three major and thirteen secondary components that according to the books are encoded, data are collected and put in separated tables for each book and lesson. The final analysis of the research is done through the descriptive statics that expresses the importance of metacognitive components in the book contents. In a general analysis in dictated that among the major and secondrary components of metacognition in social text books for fourth primary school grades of geography, history, civic sections information processing and assigntment and self knowledge in content of the mentioned book were more effective. For fifth primary school grades on social text books the assignment components and information processing in geography, history and civic sections were more effective, however anxiety, sampling components, selecting main idea, attiude and motivation were the least effective action.
